Third-Party Software Notices

Avery Logic Works builds and distributes its own software while sometimes relying on separately licensed third-party components. Those components keep their own copyright and license terms.

What these notices mean

The open-source licenses listed here permit the applicable software to be used commercially without a separate license purchase, subject to each license's terms. Where a component is redistributed, applicable copyright notices, license texts, and other required notices must be preserved and supplied. These are compliance notices, not paid-license invoices.

This page is a public reference. The notices shipped with a particular download are the primary release-specific record. A component listed for one program should not be assumed to be included in every Avery Logic Works product.

Image Text Extractor

Current dependency notice

The Python desktop utility is designed to extract text from images using a local OCR engine. The current source-package design requires the following components to be installed separately; it does not bundle the Tesseract engine or the Python runtime.

Tesseract OCR engine

Tesseract is the OCR engine that recognizes text in images. The Tesseract project is licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. Its language data are distributed by the Tesseract project under Apache 2.0 as well. The particular Windows installer may include other dependencies with their own notices, so use the installer distribution's accompanying information when reviewing those components.

pytesseract

pytesseract is the Python wrapper that calls the separate Tesseract engine. It is licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0.

Pillow

Pillow is used to open, orient, resize, and improve image contrast before OCR. Pillow is licensed under the MIT-CMU License. Its copyright and permission notices must accompany copies or supporting documentation when required by the license.

Python runtime

The current source package expects the user to install Python separately and does not redistribute the Python interpreter. Python and its standard-library components carry their own applicable license notices. If a future release bundles Python or packages the application as a standalone executable, the release inventory must be reviewed and its bundled-runtime notices updated.

Release and distribution policy

Avery Logic Works will keep a component inventory for each distributable software release and include the applicable third-party notices with that release. The inventory must be revisited whenever dependencies, packaging, bundled runtime files, OCR engine versions, or language-data sources change.

Third-party projects retain their own rights in their components. These notices do not transfer ownership of those components to Avery Logic Works or transfer ownership of Avery Logic Works' original application code to the third-party projects.
